The impact of new technology on agricultural production: The case of small farmers in Akwa Mom State, Nigeria
Main Article Content
Abstract
Technology is known to play significant role in the improvement of agricultural output/productivity. This role however depends on the extent to which the technology is adopted. This study attempts to assess the level of awareness and adoption of new technologies promoted by the Akwa Ibom Agricultural Development Project (AKADEP) and the impact of the new technologies on the farmers output. It is found that the farmers are receptive of these technologies but the level of awareness and adoption differ greatly among farmers. The study also shows that the adopted technologies play a very vital role in raising the food crop production. Its significance in the estimated equations and the views of the respondents attest to this fact.
