Enhancing the Performance of the Informal Sector for the Economic Development of Nigeria: A Case Study of Lagos State

Abstract
The role which the informal sector plays in the management of an economy is of paramount importance to the development of such economy. However, the performance of the sector leaves much to be desired. This is likely due to the indifferent disposition generated towards its performance. This paper discusses the place of the informal sector in economic development such as employment creation, income generation, enhanced productivity and concludes with recommendation that the government should foster a linkage between the formal and informal sectors in order to facilitate the attainment ofthe states developmental goals.
