Socio Cultural Practices and Health Care Delivery in Nigeria

Abstract

Maintaining good health for the people has always been the concern of the government at different times and levels in Nigeria. Health care delivery in the country has improved over the years. This is because better strategies for improving the people’s health were explored year after year. That notwithstanding the health care delivery is still highly defective. A lot needed to be done to improve upon it. The paper therefore, examines the problems confronting health care delivery in Nigeria with a view to identifying the impact of socio-cultural factors on the people’s health. It suggests that the government should embark on intensive health education and micro-credit programmes that will empower the people to take informed decisions about their health.
