Abstract

This study examined the spatial inequality of development among the nine states of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Based on the results of Principal Component Analysis applied to 45 indices of development. It revealed regional inequalities of development in the region. Many indicators concentrated on some states with Delta State leading, followed by Imo, Abia, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Edo, Ondo and Bayelsa States. The major indices in the components that contributed to developments were Infrastructure. From the overall result, it is safe to say that the Niger Delta region is unevenly developed.
